more late inning Piracy

The Pirates plundered another game in the late innings last night, making Dan Wheeler walk the plank. The visiting Pirates scored 2 runs in the top of the 8th inning to take a 3-2 lead which held up as the final score. Craig Biggio went 0-4, and did not get hit by any of the 17 pitches thrown his way.

The Astros will try to prevent a sweep tonight (or a swabbing?), facing Pirates' starter Tom Gorzelanny - yet another pitcher who has plunked Brad Ausmus but not Craig Biggio. Gorzellany threw all 4 of his career plunks last season, and tonight's game will be just his 13th career start.

Craig Biggio's only plunk recorded on April 4th was thrown 10 years ago today by Rich Batchelor of the Cardinals.
