Reds at Houston

The Cincinatti Reds visit Houston for three games starting tonight, and Bronson Arroyo will be handed a baseball, pointed in Craig Biggio's direction, and encouraged to throw. Arroyo plunked Biggio in the first inning on April 7, 2001. That was Arroyo's 5th career hit batter, but he's hit 43 since then. That 2001 plunk was Arroyo's first of the season, and he hasn't hit anyone coming into tonights game.

Craig Biggio has been hit twice on May 1st, but both were thrown by the Montreal Expos. Pedro Martinez hit him on May 1, 1997, and Britt Reames celebrated the 5th anniversary of that plunk with another one on May 1, 2002. Bronson Arroyo has hit 2 batters on May 1 - both in 2004, both in the state of Texas, and both hit Rangers left fielder Eric Young.
