272!!
Finally, Craig Biggio is tied for #2 on the all time HBP list. Chris Carpenter got him in the 5th inning on a 1-2 pitch with 2 outs. And umpire Greg Gibson seems to have been satisfied with his effort to avoid the plunk. The last time Carpenter hit Biggio, he took Biggio within one plunk of Ron Hunt. This time he moved Biggio into a tie with Tommy Tucker. Maybe we can schedule Carpenter for a record breaking plunk next?

That poor chicken missed by a single game.
I was at the game tonight. You shoulda seen the look on Biggio's face after the plunk. Kind of an "oh no, not again" sort of grimace.
I know you posted previously that Maddux was the only pitcher to do it twice, but it wasn't clear whether or not anyone else had laid a plunk-down on ol' pine-tar head on their way to that season's Cy Young award. How many Cy Young-caliber plunks has Biggio endured over his career (from pitcher who'd previously won and/or who would subsequently go on to win)?
So many useless ways to interpret statistics, and so much time in which to answer inane questions...
It's what life's all about!
