Cardinals get in the win column first

Craig Biggio's hit total moved to 2,935 last night, but his HBP total remains at 282, and the Astros win total remains at 0 after the Cardinals 4-2 win.

Tonight the Astros will try again to win a game, and Biggio will be facing the pitches thrown by Anthony Reyes. Biggio has been plunked by Carlos Reyes and Al Reyes, but not Anthony Reyes. Reyes plunked his first batter last year on July 3rd, and only waited an inning to throw his second. He hit 3 batters in a game on August 10th, and totalled 7 plunks for the season.
Bronson Arroyo is the only pitcher who has previously plunked Biggio on April 7. That was plunk number 170, on April 7, 2001.

On Sunday the Astros will face Cardinals starter Kip Wells. Wells plunked Biggio on July 12, 2003. Wells hit 4 batters last season, but none of them played for the Astros. Biggio recorded his first plunk of the year on April 8th last season, when Livan Hernandez hit him in the 6th inning.

Hey, I like your blog. It is good to see other posting about the Astros.

I didn't know Biggio had been hit by so many pitches. Yes, I knew he gets hit a great deal, but didn’t know he was in line to break a record/

There are not many of us blogging about the Astros, but those who are certainly showing their commitment to the Astros.

I have a blog about Biggio's quest for 3000 hits. Feel free to stop by and leave a comment.

I will add you to my blog roll. Please think about adding me to your so we can cross promote.
