Padres at Petco

The Astros were off yesterday, but tonight Pettitte will pitch against Peavy and the Padres at Petco Park. It sounds like the word "plunk" ought to fit nicely into that game story... but how? Jake Peavy hit Craig Biggio with a pitch on August 31, 2003 and has hit another 22 batters since then, bringing his career total to 31. Peavy threw 129 pitches in his last outing and didn't hit anyone, so he might be due. Or, he might be tired.

Steve Reed of the Colorado Rockies hit Craig Biggio with a pitch on August 1, 1994, and remains the only pitcher to throw an HBP to Biggio on this date.
