Reds don't leave a mark

The Reds threw 14 pitches toward Craig Biggio last night, but he didn't get hit by any of them. Chad Qualls got the vulture-win for the Astros, giving up the lead in the top of the 8th before the Astros took it back in the bottom, for a 7-5 final.

Tonight the Astros travel to St. Louis, where Biggio has been plunked 14 times. Adam Wainwright, who has never plunked Biggio, is scheduled to pitch. He's hit two batters this season, but he's never hit an Astro.

Biggio has been plunked 5 times on May 4th, including once in St. Louis, in 1995 by Donovan Osborne. Kirk Rueter hit him on May 4, 1996 for the Expos, Al Leiter threw plunk 144 on May 4, 1999 for the Mets, Mark Guthrie contributed plunk 156 on May 4, 2000 and Jeff D'Amico hit Biggio with a pitch on May 4, 2002. D'Amico became the only pitcher with an apostrophe in his name to plunk Biggio on that one, and it was also the first plunk called by an umpire with an apostrophe in his name, Brian O'Nora.
