271!

Chris Hammond hit Craig Biggio, last night, in the 9th inning on an 0-1 pitch with 2 outs, and came around to score on Lance Berkman's double. Chris Hammond has now hit Biggio twice, having done so on May 12, 1998 for the Marlins. Only Salomon Torres (9/21/93, 5/12/03) and Steve Reed (8/1/94, 4/3/03) have gone longer between plunkings of Biggio.

Now if you ask me, and plenty folks interested in distorted sleep patterns do now and again, pbr obviously missed the actual big event due to what I will assume was the combination of time zone differentiation and the maintenance of a daily routine commencing each weekday morning. I will, once again, suggest in my most humble mode that the way to stay up and enjoy Left Coast games is to tank up on day-old donuts and a couple cases of the diet soft drink of your choice (preferably tepid). The combination of sugar and caffeine will allow one to outlast even an extra inning Left Coast game with a brief rain delay.

I done waited six grinding hours for this here blog to be updated with the addition of the most recent plunking. Shameful, down right shameful!

I stayed up with Junior and we watched the whole thing unfold right before our bleary eyes and I went ahead on and got up this morning at my normal time all bright eyed and bushy tailed. On top of all that, the glaze on run-of-the-mill glazed donuts adds a lustrous sheen to your hair if you skip your normal weekly washing. I suggest commencing to watch the rest of the Left Coast games live along with us closet day-old donut aficionados.

On to 272!

The cold hard strange truth of the matter is that Cletus is on Kathmandu standard time for some reason. Do day-old donuts taste different when they're made with yak oil?

Also, I've noticed a distinct trend recently that Craig Biggio does not get hit by pitches while I'm looking, so I need to be either asleep or traveling to avoid somehow jinxing the record chase.

On t'other hand, I proudly posted the sighting of Number 271 to this blog mere seconds after the occurence. Not that I'm bragging, mind you (well, maybe a tad). Having a one-month-old around the house tends to push considerations of sleep firmly to the rear, such that Left Coast games are just about ideally timed. Of course, games in Japan would also be just about ideally timed under these circumstances...
