Cardinals notes

The St. Louis Cardinals have plunked Craig Biggio 25 times, leaving them second to only Colorado on the all time hitting Biggio with a pitch list. They own the record for most times plunking Biggio in a season, with 6 in 1991, and in 1995 they became the only team to hit Biggio with 10% of the plunks they threw that year - 40 total plunks, 4 against Biggio.
But, the matchup between Biggio and the Cardinals is not one sided in favor of the baseball. Biggio has more hits against St. Louis than against any other franchise with 256. He has also record more runs batted in against the Cardinals than against any other team (119). His life time average against the Cards is .304 - .347 in games when he's plunked and .299 when he isn't. It jumps to .444 in games when he's hit twice.

The 12 active pitchers on the Cardinals roster have hit a career total of 268 batters - 8 behind Biggio's total for getting hit. The St. Louis batters on the active roster have been hit a total of 385 times, but 95 of those belong to David Eckstein, who is leading the National League with 6 this season.

Biggio passed Harold Baines tuesday night to take sole possesion of 25th place in most major league at-bats.

From the Astros website:

Okay, that's weird because he actually moved into 26th place. I wonder if that was a mistake or if they're omitting Pete Rose on purpose or something. But at least they got the total right, unlike MLB.com's list. It should be 1.Pete Rose 14053,2.Hank Aaron 12364,3.Carl Yastrzemski 1198,4.Cal Ripken 11551,5.Ty Cobb 11434,6.Eddie Murray 11336,7.Robin Yount 11008,8.Dave Winfield 11003,9.Stan Musial 10972,10.Rickey Henderson 10961,11.Willie Mays 10881,12.Paul Molitor 10835,13.Brooks Robinson 10654,14.Rafael Palmeiro 10472,15.Honus Wagner 10430,16.George Brett 10349,17.Lou Brock 10332,18.Cap Anson 10277,19.Luis Aparicio 10230,20.Tris Speaker 10195,21.Al Kaline 10116,22.Rabbit Maranvill 10078,23.Frank Robinson 10006,24.Eddie Collins 9949,25.Andre Dawson 9927,26.Craig Biggio 9912

oh... it's another one of those "modern list" things. I'm guessing it's Cap Anson they're not counting.
