more numbers numbers

Tonight's opposing starter, Ben Sheets, is tied for 3rd place on the list of players with the lowest uniform number to plunk Biggio. Sheets, #15, is behind only Ismael Valdes and Jeff Juden who wore number 14. Sheets is joined by fellow #15s Ron Darling and Cory Lidle - who has plunked Biggio on this date. If Sheets hits Biggio with a pitch tonight, he and Lidle will be the 4th pair of pitchers with the same uniform number to plunk Biggio on the same calendar date.
Sheets and Lidle are also the only 2 pitchers with numbers that start with 1 to get the win in games when they plunked Biggio. Pitchers wearing numbers 14-19 are a combined 2-10 in games when they hit Biggio, the worst record (by win percentage) of any uniform number first digit, excluding those with less than 5 plunks. The Astros are 11-3 overall against pitchers who hit Biggio with a pitch wearing a uniform number starting with 1.
