return of the zeros

Last night's game was the 8th time this season and the 213th time in his career that Craig Biggio had 3 or more hits in a game, but it was the 2nd time this season and only the 37th time in his career when he didn't score a run in a game in which he had 3 or more hits. The rest of the team didn't do any better at scoring runs, getting blanked by the Cubs 1-0, and Craig Biggio was not hit by any pitches.
Tonight the Central Division leading St. Louis Cardinals will play the first of 4 games at Minute Maid Park with Sidney Ponson scheduled to be firing pitches at batters from that little hill in the middle of the infield. Ponson has hit 3 batters this year and 32 in his career, but never hit Craig Biggio.
Biggio has never been plunked on July 6th.
