22 and 10 but no 261

Adam Everett and Morgan Ensberg both got hit by pitches, but Biggio stayed out of the way last night. Everett's was the 22nd of his career and Ensberg's was number 10.

Russ Ortiz pitches for the D-backs today but he has never hit Craig Biggio with a pitch. He averages 4 plunks per year and has one so far this season.

The list of pitchers who have drilled Craig Biggio on May 18th is long and distinguished. Mark Portugal in 1994, Danny Darwin in 1996, Garrett Stephenson in 1997, and Dontrelle Willis in 2004.

Yay PlunkBiggio! Thanks for bringing the world's attention to a woefully overlooked record chase.

A suggestion for a future post: delving into why Biggio's MLB page engages in shamelessly deceptive advertising.

The page links to a "hit chart" that depicts where in the field Biggio has hit the ball, but neglects to show where on his body Biggio has been hit.

"Hit chart," my eye!
