Biggio 4, Ball 0

Craig Biggio won his personal battle against the baseball yesterday. The ball never hit him, but he hit it 4 times (two fouls, a ground out and a homer). Of the 4,377 pitches thrown in yesterdays games, only 15 hit anyone.
Jeff Fassero pitches tonight for the Giants. At 42 years old, he has a chance to break Orel Hershiser's record and become the oldest pitcher ever to hit Craig Biggio with a pitch. Hershiser plunked Biggio on May 7, 2000 at 41 years 7 months of age.
3 of Biggio's 260 HBPs have come on May 15th, in three consecutive years. Mark Gardner started the tradition in 1999, Danny Graves continued it in 2000, Manny Aybar followed the trend in 2001, but in 2002 the streak was broken when none of the four Phillies pitchers who faced the Astros on May 15th hit Biggio with a pitch.
