Wildcard showdown - day three

Vicente Padilla will be throwing in Craig Biggio's general direction tonight at Citizens Bank Park. Padilla hit Biggio with a pitch on May 11, 2003.

John Franco plunked Biggio on September 7, 1993, and Rod Beck hit him on September 7, 1997. While neither recorded a save in the games when they drilled Craig Biggio, John Franco and Rod Beck are the only two pitchers who have plunked Biggio and recorded over 250 saves.

I know this is off-topic for you, but it would be an interesting study to find the biggest hits of Biggio's career. I think the one on Wednesday night would rank up there, particularly if the Astros go on to make the playoffs.

Now I know a whole passel of folks out there are awaiting the announcement of my next system for prognosticating plunkings. The anagram method was interesting but failed to provide any clues, and the chicken plop experiment was a complete failure and misled me in to making a boastful claim that I now find rather embarrassing.

I now enter a solid covenant with every interested party with even a modicum of fascination with Craig “Target” Biggio and his plunkings in which I provide my sacred bond that just as soon as I am ready to go public with my next prognostication system I will. My goal is to get the kinks worked out in time to forecast Target’s surpassing Double T with his 273rd lifetime plunk.

If I fail in my efforts, I hereby commit to going in to a Derek Bell style “Operation Shutdown.”
