270!
Jose Valverde (age 26!) served up plunk #270 sometime in the middle of the night. Biggio was leading off the 9th inning, making #270 his 87th plunk while leading off the inning. Unfortunately it didn't spark a 9th inning come back rally, and the Astros have lost the the last 2 games Biggio has been hit by a pitch despite their red hot 17-3 streak since that first series after the all-star break.
Velverde became just the 4th pitcher to plunk Biggio while recording a save, joining Barry Jones, Willie Fraser and Danny Graves.
Plunk #270 was also on a 3-1 count - I don't have stats on ball-strike counts for very many plunks, but that is the first 3 ball count he's been plunked on this season anyway.

I watched the game and saw #270 unfold. It hit him square on the elbow pad and then caught the umpire flush on the face mask. I wonder, shouldn't the pitcher get two hit by pitches on the same pitch... HMM... Also I wonder how many other times an umpire has been hit after a batter has been plunked...
Anyway, keep up the good work PBR. I have also felt that this record is the true record for baseball mortality...
